I know....its been a while...
The creative juices seemed to have dried up a bit..the zest and pleasures of writing severely dwindling. Creativeness wanders hopelessly and most certainly, the best part, teasing people, now have severe consequences.
However, I woke up yesterday, and it became known to me that spring is here...bring forth life...back came the enthusiasm, inspiration just flowing freely and ideas came crashing in.
An awfully early start to the day coz had to catch the bus to city for badminton. Grumbled and mumbled to myself, "what was I doing up so early on a saturday morning", I reasoned with myself. Got into the bus, sat down, put on my cheap "made in penang" earphones and closed my eyes.
I was suddenly rudely awaken by the voice of somebody singing. Turns out, the guy behind me was listening to some music and singing along on the top of his voice. Feeling the urge to "Lempang sama dia", I gave a deep cough to signal my clear annoyance.
Alas, his baritone-like voice was oblivious to my intends as he continued singing some stupid, distasteful music. Surely, my bohemian friend knows that theres a place and time for this. I know, and understand that its human nature to sing along, as i sometimes lock my door, stand on for bed, play the legendary tunes of Matchbox 20 and sing to all my legions of fans (in my case, a plethora of books, clothes and smelly socks). Ah, what the heck, at least he sounds better than some of those NZ idols contestant.
Half way through the journey, the bus stopped abruptly. Up came a beautiful golden retriever along with its master. Wow, a dog in the bus...thats a first. Upon further observtion, i noticed that this passenger was in fact blind. I was somewhat curious as to how she could stop the bus and more interestingly, how she could figure out when to ask the bus to stop. So I continued staring at her, observing her obedient dog resting itself quietly on the floor then continue staring at her again.
On the odd occasion when she turned her head towards my line of sight, I would look down and pretend I wasnt looking, kinda like when u're looking at someone attractive and she/he turns at you and you quickly pretend as though you are analyzing the stars above the yonder sky.
But now when I think about it, she wasnt able to see me anyway...DUH....what a minties moment, as blur as a sotong. Suddenly, she hit the stop button somewhere around Newmarket. How in the world does she know that shes in Newmarket??...does she have some special GPS system that alerts her? or does she have some special gills that emits high frequencies rays much like a dolphin? I was awestruck.
After she left the bus, i closed my eyes and thought to myself. Wow...imagine a world like that. Eternal darkness. I thanked God for what he blessed me with. And right on cue as I open my eyes, the greatest view manifested itself, the sight of a mighty ocean, sea gulls flying above the clear blue sky, boats of different shapes and sizes parked neatly along the docks, lush green forest extending inland.... and the sun, shining brightly towards the horizon. Cold sweat trickled along my body. Gratitude, my friends....dont take anything for granted.
