Malaysian Ball 2006
Monday, August 28, 2006
The very fact that im going is by sheer luck. Turns out that my bets were right and i am able to afford a ticket. Thank you guys for wishing me good luck.
So it was set, Crown Plaza Hotel, 27 August 2006. Revival of the fairy tale. It was advertised as being the biggest ball to date in UMSA history. Preparation was obviously needed. So jason, boon and i went to dressmart the day before.
Unfortunately, we didnt find anything that looked good coz of our high standards (or maybe coz of our measly frame). So we went home, worried and confused of our attire. Thankfully, as if by divine means, i met a friend who happen to have a whole lotta formal wear and is roughly my size. Great...attire..checked.
The next day, after my french manicure, exfoliation, cuticle work, therapeutic pedicure, botanical detox complex , aromatherapy oils, detoxifying algae and a meeting with Gustav, my russian massuer, i was ready and all set for the ball. Funny thing happen when i walked out of my room with my suit, my dad looked and me and said, "Wahhh, why u didnt tell me you getting married?". Hahah, very funny dad. A brief meeting with the gang followed (sorry boon to keep u waiting, at least you made acquaintance with kai ann's parents) and we left for the hotel.
As we arrived, we were greeted with flocks of fairies and princess (with thier tiara and what ever you call those long, hand held wands). There was the odd captain hook, zorro, puss in boots, 3 witches from macbeth (xin yi in a dress!!!), beast and not to mention shrek. However, as i walked further, a particular costume caught my eyes. Yes, i was dazzled to see Prince Lim Char Ming. Yesterday, he was fretting about what to wear, and now here he is, char ming as ever. Nice work Boon, dunno how you pull that off.
Night was great, with some nice performances, great fashion show, lousy food, borderline dessert and a great skit by the UMSA committee. It was hilarious and i really liked the friends intro bit. Anyway, the lucky draw was next. Unfortunately, i didnt win the air ticket, but guess what jen, RACHEL WON!!...haha...so lucky lar she...a free return ticket to Malaysia.
The night came to an end, boon and i went for the afterball, the rest went to Edward's place and jun bin was no where to be found ( Mr Lee, You are a real man now...just like Pinnochio). Afterball was at sixth sense. Being a sunday night, it was relatively empty and was filled mainly by all the UMSA people. It was cool walking around the club and knowing that everyone had something in common. Pick up lines were also easy to formulate, ie: Hey, something tells me u're from malaysia, me too!!
After some hard out dancing and shuffling (haha, thanks for teaching Boon), we left for boon's place for a good night rest. A peculiar thing arose along the way there, upon reaching boon's house, boon suddenly asked me if i wanted to shoot some hoops. Well mr lim, what a great idea, only problem is its flippin 5am and its dark as hell. He also said sumthin about coming back from clubs and putting
on his jogging shoes and jog in the wee hours of morning. Is this a KK thing ar??
Thankfully, we didnt play and went straight for the blankets. I must say, Boon's new "rumpus" looks great man. What a nice hang out place, just like the basement in "Thats 70's show". Furthermore, the extra room there was spacious enough that i literally could sleep on one side and wont be able to hear boon snoring on the other side. Also, the room was warm and welcoming, with sleeping bags arranged nicely and blankets lay neatly by the sides. I presume that this is where boon brings home all his "fresh meat" from the clubs and "slaughter" them here. Nice work man, im gonna get a "visitor" room as well.
Later that day, i left for waiwera (hot springs and water theme park). It was 48 celcius and steamy hot. Slides were preety cool and we had loads of fun. Heres just some pics and more will come shortly.

These arent my freinds....dunno who leh

WOW.....havent update for aeons....sorry bout that guys...as usual, same old tests, labs and what have you. Life's been topsy turvey. The other day i was in a jubilant mood coz i just got offered a job, only to find out that the on my way to the interview i went above the speed limit. Consequently, the cameras got me. 80 flippin bucks to the oversize pockets of all the egghead officers so they can watch more porno flicks ( as reported in the daily news). As i always budget for all my expenditures, a 80 bucks monetary gift to the "enforcers of justice" isnt what i usually budget for. Well, that leaves me financially impaired. In Malaysia, one would head to the headquarters, go up to reception, and calmy say.." Hey boss, bagaimana nak settle dengan ini...kerja manyak susah la...boleh tolong sikit ar??" which blunty means "Get me out of this mess and we both eat well tonight".
Yes, I do understand that a corrupt system leads to econmic instability in the long run. But for a third world country like (dare i say it) Malaysia, this third world mentaliy is embraced. So for me to bear the incidence of this fine is against my ethos. But enough of this dilemma already. Lets move on.
Was approached by several friends with regards to the upcoming Malaysian ball. Everybody seems to be going and i was cordially invited to boon's table. Well, since im not a rich, pot smoking tycoon, sipping bicardi and lounging on lazyboys, money is somewhat a problem.
So i had a wee thought to myself, how could i raise 55 bucks in one week. Several options came to mind: Stealing zach shoes and ask for ransom money for it (bugger lurves his shoes so much, he would pay anything) or i could take a video of jun bin snoring in lectures (wouldnt be a diffucult task) and threaten to post it on youtube. Although, theres always that option of selling body parts (liver, anyone?).
Showing much cognitive prowess, i omitted those options and settle for the all time favourite - Gambling. So in short, if the all blacks beat australia by 12 of points or under today, ill be bearing my tux, holla-ing to all my msian peeps and cramming in the (hopefully palatable) buffet. Otherweise, gimme a shout out when your near karangahape road and stumble across a shabby, bearded guy begging for food. Fingers cross.
Go ALL BLACKS...u little beauties...

WHOA!!!....been so busy lately....applying for jobs, interviews, meetings, study, workshop, labs....its crazy. Anyway, last week DV8, was GR8...the
couple of drinks certainly helped compensate for lack of dancing moves. No photos unfortunately and blame that on bin coz he is the only sober one. Stayed in jun bin's house that night (with 4 other guys crammed in the living room..yea, dont take engineering, thats how low u'll go) . We had supper that night and it was on bin so thanks bin and ka yao . Anyway, found this in a magazine...3 things that have the power to alter your lifestlye
3Valentino Cashmere JacketThis is a jacket that should be felt as much as seen; a piece of fine archintecture that represents the height of the italian clothier's art. Light as feather, it feels no more cumbersome than a well cut Tshirt. But whats more important about the informal jacket shown here - where the real skills lies indeed- is not what is there for all to see, like the directional soft gray country check cashmere, but what has been taken away. In this case, with the absence of the lining, the entire internal workings that usually give a jacket its structure are gone. Yet its natural shoulder and gently shaped fit around the torso ensure that it looks as inpeachably dignified as a suit.
elegance personified2A week at Klein's Camp, Northern TanzaniaThe new model for the twenty first century safari is Klein's Camp, located on nearly 25 thousand acres of big sky savannah in northern Tanzania, deep in the rolling plains of the Serengeti. The camp leases its land from the local Ololosokwan trib, the legendary Masai warriors and cattle herders of east Africa who make up 70 per cent of the lodge staff. Masai warriors also act as your guides as you creep alongside lions, elephants, cheetahs and thousands of thundering wild beasts, whose annual migration passes through the camp twice a year, around August and October. Year round game viewing is also guaranteed, and since the number of guests never exceeds 20, you wont see another tourist between you and the necking giraffe. At the end of the day, order a cold beer in the camp's bar, which affords a 120 degree panoramic view of elephant herds grazing in the valley below and a sunset so beautiful that your heart sinks with it.
great honeymoon spot..1Mercedes AMG engineWith eight deep breathing cylinders crammed under its tiny hood, the pedestrian Mercedes C-class becomes the pedestrian frightening 362 horsepower C55 AMG. The super charged 469 horsepower V-8 that AMG drops into the E-class wagon creates a mommy mobile that'll slay a Porshe 911 Carerra. In an era of robotized assembly, each AMG motor is hand built and signed by a single craftsman. Whether naturally aspirated, supercharged or fitted with twin turbos an AMG engine makes the kind of power tha turns an accelerator pedal into a dare. The new 604 horsepower SL65 AMG is a case in point. Floor the throttle and you'll learn what it feels like to surf a tsunami. For the horsepower hungry, an AMG engine is an all you can eat buffet.
