GEOLOGY ROCKS
Friday, March 31, 2006
well...not really...but thanks to my geology paper...i dont have to freakin endure 4 hours of lecture as we embarked on a field trip to eastern beach...WOHOO!!...weather today was perfect for observing rocks..we got to witness first hand all the types of rocks and coastal features we had learned from our lectures...I got to see some weathered sandstone and mudstone...hahah...thats how sad civil engineering is...it also doesnt help if ure lecturer is as exciting as a rock..he just babbles on about sea walls, clay seams, biological erosion, bedding places...yawn.....heres how he looks like... lol

at least we didnt had to attend lectures...however, my only greatest regret was missing out on free bbq, BEER! and whole lotta other free shit they were giving out in the quad due to the celebration of interest free loans to all student..anyway, i was reading the papers the other day and was gobsmacked when i read that they are going to make a PC for desperate housewives...what the heck??...check this out...A PC video game based on popular television show "Desperate Housewives" is in development and will be released later this year. In the game, created by Walt Disney's Buena Vista Games, players take on the role of a new Wisteria Lane housewife, who can uncover or create new scandals on the seemingly idyllic street where the show takes place.....hahaha....crazy stuff....ill just play carlos's character and...well...u know...like in sims.....
Anyway...i also notice a rather interesting picture... its a smart arse answer from a 8 year old boy for his math test.

Well, some wacky world we live in so strap in and enjoy the ride....have a nice week guys

A night of striking
Saturday, March 25, 2006
After much anticipation, laser strike night finally came....started the day with 4 lectures in a row, 2 structures, a fluid mechanics tutorial and a land info lecture somwhere in between. Needless to say it was the usual same old boring stuff. Anyway, at the stroke of 9 pm, we made our way to megazone in posonby. The place looked rather shabby and old but what awaits us inside was far more exiciting. After a brief introduction on the rules and regulations, twas time for LAZER STRIKING!!!....clad with our sophisticated state of the art laser suit and highly deadly laser gun, we rush inside the maze not knowing what to except, i was so exicted that i was completely obivlious of the surroundings and nearly trip upon a step. After getting my bearings right, i proceed in annialathing my fellow enemies. I however must admit that i was preety crap the first time around, all i did was trying to get my gun working and some geezer will come along and shoot me. After the first round, as expected i didnt to too well, at least getting a positive number unlike someone who somehow managed to get a negative 1000...how the heck did u that la jun bin???...shoot ur own base ar......anyway, some pro advised me to aim for the base always and ensure you get a hit. So i was all hype up for the second round, all ready to kick some ass...i went in the arena with a vengence, targeting all the basses, jumping and dodging lasers, shooting like a mad cow. Man, i was sweating bullets...hopefully it all pays off. I came out and my heart sank when i realise i was dead last...LOL!!!....rock bottom, the ultimate loser...what the heck???....something must be wrong with thier scoring system i deduced. I then settled for playing the buzz song game in the playstation. At least i didnt get last place in that game!!...my strategy for the last game was simple....following the ancient japanese art of war: KAMIKAZE!!!...i just ran around and shoot anyone i saw ... even team mates ( getting my fair bit of critisim) . And guess what?...i actually did better...7th place!!!...wooHOOO!!!....i love kai ann's tactic however, she said she just sneakly tell the person she dies already and went they turn thier back, she proceeds in shooting them...wah....this kind of girl ar....cannot trust wan man...GUYS BEWARE!!!...lucky i am in the same team as she is. Overall, the night was really entertaining, we left with our sweaty bodies and sore legs and definately bucketsful of hatred for our opponents. DAMN THAT IDIOT WHO GOT ME WHEN I WAS JUST ABOUT TO FIRE GREEN BASE!!!

I clearly do not have the basic skills
Thursday, March 09, 2006
After reviewing the answers today, im startin to stress out even more...Anyway, had a really early start to the day as i had a land information lab to go to. Reached uni at about 9am and was eager to do some hardcore land surveying. Armed with our tripod, pegs and theodolites (A surveying instrument for measuring horizontal and vertical angles), a group of us set out to the murky depths of Auckland Domain. After a 5 minutes stroll, we reached a barren piece of land just waiting to be surveyed. Grass here was preety soft and the land was slighty inclined which makes a perfect spot for practising our new found surveying skills. After a brief demo and setting up to instrument, lo and behold, rain started descending upon us. Quickly, the lecturer asked some dude to take off his jacket and protect the instrument, disregarding the fact that poor dude was going to get all drenched. Well, rule number 1: protect instruments at all cost.
Thankfully, the rain started to subside and we were able to set up our precious equipment once again. The guy said that there was one group that had to use the microptic theodolite as oppose to the newer digital version. Using this older one would really be a pain in the ass as we had to read the measurements off some scale.
Luckly, my group got the digital one and i was relief not to get one of those old machine. But boy was i wrong, as nobody wanted to use the old machine resulting in a shortage of group members for them. Subsequently, lucky me was chosen to join that group. ARGH!!
After much cussing and patience, we finally got all the measurements and headed back to base. Next on the agenda was MM2, a record 36 slides was reviewed by our lecturer whom seemed oblivious to many students. I couldnt take this any longer so i decided to skip the next lec and headed straight for home to write this entry...hopefully i made the right choice....hopefully....

Maths Madness
Wednesday, March 08, 2006
1 week down.....so many more to go!!!!...Amongst the geology and bending moments lectures, i constantly find myself fighting to stay awake. The lecture theatre seems like a huge snore fest. Lucky, jun bin was beside me drawing doodles of our lecturer, people's legs and bruce lee which at that time was rather entertaining. The "basic" skills maths test today didnt help one bit as everybody agreed it was particularly difficult. However, twas nice catching up with some friends from the other specialisations and hearing some of their lame jokes. Who knows how long we can survive this torture. Where 's superman when we need him?
